Torbiere, Whispering Reeds and Marshlands
Torbiere, Whispering Reeds and Marshlands
Starting location is Provaglio. View it here.
This 8.8 km loop focuses on the ecosystem of the Torbiere del Sebino nature reserve, located at the southern tip of Lake Iseo. Starting at the Provaglio/Timoline station from the "Il Viandante" hub, the route follows a technical perimeter path through protected marshlands. The terrain is predominantly flat, characterized by a low elevation gain of 38 meters, making it an accessible route for observing the specific flora and avifauna of this peat bog environment.
The trail intersects with the Monastery of San Pietro in Lamosa, a Romanesque site founded in the 11th century. This landmark serves as a key historical waypoint, marking the transition between the wetlands and the agricultural landscape of Franciacorta. The final sector of the hike returns to the starting hub, providing the opportunity to sample regional DOCG wines and local products.
