Hiking Lake Iseo
Torbiere and Madonna del Corno Trail
Torbiere and Madonna del Corno Trail
Starting location is Provaglio. View it here.
This 5.6 km circular route initiates at the Provaglio/Timoline train station, departing from the "Il Viandante" hub. The first segment follows the perimeter of the Torbiere del Sebino, a protected wetland, on a flat and stable path. This leads directly to the Monastery of San Pietro in Lamosa, an 11th-century Cluniac Romanesque complex that serves as a primary historical landmark of the Franciacorta region.
From the monastery, the route transits through the urban center of Provaglio d'Iseo before beginning the main ascent. The trail climbs a vertical gain of 263 meters to reach the Madonna del Corno sanctuary. This vantage point offers a 180-degree technical view of the Lake Iseo basin, the peat bog ecosystem, and the Franciacorta viticultural area. The return leg utilizes a secondary descent path to diversify the terrain and concludes back at the starting point for a tasting of regional Franciacorta wines.
